A life of sin. "Sin" means without in Spanish. Right now, for me, the most important thing is to live in "sin"; not in sin, but... without plans, without haste, without thinking too much, and without stress. I want to live in the present, not in the past or in the future. An example of this is a recent trip to Mojácar. One day I decided to drive somewhere. I took a look at my list of places in Spain to visit and I chose Mojácar. At the same time, I told myself that it was just the direction, it didn't have to be the destination. If I discovered other places, the plans could change. I left home with a backpack of essentials and my camera.

Mojácar is a beautiful little town in Andalusia. It's a little more than two hours by car, but, because I avoid highways when I can, it's actually more like four hours without stopping. I left home at eleven and arrived at the destination at seven; without rushing. On the way, I visited several places and took some pictures. It was a quiet day that I enjoyed a lot.

The first stop was the port of Mazarrón. Gigi and I had visited Mazarrón two years ago to see the mines, but it was my first time in the port.

Continuing on my way, this community caught my eye. I couldn’t find an entrance without huge potholes. It seemed to me like a commune or a cult compound.

In hindsight, I guess I could have taken the stairs.

Allí y de vuelta… (There and back…)

Along the coast, there are many coves and overlooks with areas to pull over safely. I took advantage of many opportunities to take photos.

As it turned out, I arrived in Mojácar at the end of a day of "sin". I had a drink while looking for a hotel with a vacancy. I found one on Mojácar beach. Also, I wrote in my new notebook. I've been trying to do something new to practice Spanish and record some of my thoughts.

Mojácar is a quiet little town on a hill along the coast of Andalusia; known as one of the most beautiful towns in Spain. I agree, but it doesn't apply to its beaches. It reminds me of many beaches on the Costa del Sol near Malaga with one long road with hotels, restaurants, and tourist traps one after another. Fortunately, the hostel was in a slightly quieter area.

According to legend, Walt Disney was born in Mojácar. Disney insisted not, but without a birth certificate, the inhabitants of Mojácar insist it’s true. You can read more here: Fascinating Spain.

The final stop of the trip was Águila (which means Eagle). Gigi and I also visited Águila a few years ago, so I didn't spend much time here, but it was a good place to recharge the car, stretch my legs, and take some pictures. All in all, it was another good trip and I got to know some new places in Spain while living in “sin”.
