El jueves pasado Gigi y yo fuimos a pasar el día en Almoradí y un parque natural cercano. Uno de nuestros amigos me recomendó un mercado holandés para comprar sambal, una salsa picante típica de Indonesia y alrededores. Aunque no pudimos encontrarla, encontramos un mercado halal que vendía harissa.

Almoradí es un pueblo pequeño y estábamos pensando si queríamos comer allí o en otro lugar antes de ir al parque. Busqué restaurantes para almorzar en el mapa y ví un gastropub que se veía interesante.

Last Thursday Gigi and I went on a day trip to Almoradí and a nature park nearby. One of our friends recommended a Dutch market to buy sambal, a spicy sauce from in and around Indonesia. Although we couldn’t find that one, we found a halal market that sold harissa.

Almoradí is a small town and we were deciding if we wanted to eat there or somewhere else before going to the park. I looked for restaurants for lunch on the map and saw a gastropub that looked interesting.

Gastro Moon tiene comida típica de España: tapas, arroces, pescado, carne, etcétera, pero con un toque especial. Aunque el menú del día sonaba delicioso, pedimos algunas tapas. Cuando el primer plato llegó nos sorpendió mucho. Nunca habíamos visto patatas bravas como esas, y el sabor era tan estupendo como la presentación. Nunca nos esperábamos tal calidad en un pueblo tan pequeñito. Además, el camarero era muy agradable y generoso con su tiempo.

Gastro Moon has typical Spanish food: tapas, rice dishes, fish, meat, etc., but with a twist. Although the menu of the day sounded delicious, we ordered some tapas. When the first dish arrived, we were very much surpised. We have never seen patatas bravas like those, and the flavor was as great as the presentation. We never expected such quality in a town so tiny. In addition, the waiter was very nice and generous with his time.

Patatas Bravas

Normalmente patatas bravas son patatas fritas con salsa picante de tomate, pero estas son patatas hervidas con salsa de chile asiática y hilos de chile.

Usually patatas bravas are fried potatoes with spicy tomato sauce, but these are boiled potatoes with Asian chili sauce and chili threads.
